Where is my mind? – Choosing Brain or Body?
833 pending comments on my blog! Granted about 810 of those pending comments were spam, but it’s a great indicator of the amount of time I’ve been mentally idle (not to mention lackadaisical with my blog posts). I’ve always been a decent self-motivator and possessed some significant will power, but looking back on the mental punishment I took for the sake of an aesthetically pleasing physique – I would not only consider the time ‘a waste’, but also extremely detrimental. I am a sugar fiend. I have always been obsessed with it, for as long as I can remember. Even now when I open a packet of snakes, sour worms, jelly babies, or even something like apricot delights then I have to finish what I started and empty the packet down the hatch. I was told that I didn’t need to get any bigger and that my size could be faked with camera angles, puffy clothing, etc. The problem was… I wanted the real thing, to look the part, for people to take a look at me on-screen and say ‘holy sh*t!’. Throughout the script were references to how intimidatingly large this character was, not to mention the real life character was a champion bodybuilder. So the next day after hearing I got the role I headed to the gym, grabbed some 30 kilo dumbbells, prepped for some shoulder presses, lifted the weight, and CRACK… Pulled my neck out! 1 week of rest needed.
